Good Tip:
For using in our soldering flux I cut my bristles to be 1/4" long.
Too much flux on a soldering area does spit everywhere... xo
By doing this it seems to be just the right amount of flux to be put onto the solder area.
I call this ...... Not taking a flux bath.  xo

For Patina application I leave the bristles long. 

I rinse mine with water after use and set it bristles down to dry and it lasts me a very long time.  If chemicals are left in the brush it then rusts.  xo
